HealthEdge Appoints Advisory Board Members
Tampa, FL –March 31, 2013– HealthEdge Investment Partners, LLC (“HealthEdge,” or the “Fund”) is pleased to announce it has added Joel Gemunder and Derrick Brooks to its Advisory Board.
Mr. Gemunder will serve as Vice Chairman of the Advisory Board. Mr. Gemunder previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Omnicare, Inc. (NYSE:OCR) and a member of its Board of Directors until his retirement in 2010. He had served as President since 1981, the year the company went public, and was named Chief Executive Officer in 2001. Omnicare, Inc., a Fortune 500 company based in Cincinnati, Ohio, is the nation’s largest provider of pharmaceutical care for the elderly. Gemunder previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Omnicare partnership, a consortium of health care companies owned by W. R. Grace and Chemed Corporation. He also served as Executive Vice President of Chemed. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Chemed Corporation (NYSE:CHE) and Ultratech, Inc. (NASDAQ:UTEK). He serves on the Advisory Council of the Graduate School of Business (The Booth School) at the University of Chicago, where he has established the Joel F. Gemunder Chair for Strategy and Finance. He is a Vice President and member of the Executive Committee of JINSA (Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs) and is Trustee of its Gemunder Center for Defense and Strategy. He has also served as the President of the Long Term Care Pharmacy Alliance.
Mr. Brooks, President of the Tampa Bay Storm, has also joined the Advisory Board. Mr. Brooks was a former NFL player who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1995 to 2008. During his career, he was named All-Pro nine times, selected to the Pro-Bowl eleven times, won one Super Bowl (XXXVII) with the Buccaneers in 2002 and in the same year was also named AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Along with his many distinguished successes on the field, Mr. Brooks is also known for his excellence off the field as the founder and President of the Derrick Brooks Charities, Inc., as well as founding the Brooks-DeBartolo Collegiate High School, a public charter school in Tampa. Because of his charity work, advocacy for education and a general life mission to positively impact the lives of youth living in the Tampa Bay area and beyond, Mr. Brooks received the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, the “Whizzer” White NFL Man of the Year Award and the Bart Starr Man of the Year Award in 2003. All of these awards recognize the NFL player who has impacted their community the most by doing volunteer and charity works, as well as being a model for outstanding and unquestionable character.
